KAMPALA FLYOVER CONSTRUCTION AND ROAD UPGRADING PROJECT

LOCATION: The Project (Lot 2) lies between Kibuli junction (along Mukwano Road) and Jinja Road (at a point about 250 m to the east side of Africana Roundabout) via Mukwano Road and Access Road including some parts of Yusuf Lule Road (between Kitgum House Junction and Garden City Roundabout) and Nile Avenue (about 250m from Garden City Roundabout).

SCOPE: Geotechnical investigation for the Detailed Engineering Design of the Kampala Flyover Construction and Road Upgrading Project (Lot 2). The scope involved drilling of twenty-eight (28) geotechnical boreholes to the achievement of five consecutive Standard Penetration Test (SPT) refusals at the proposed pier locations for supporting the flyover bridges, ground water monitoring, laboratory testing of the recovered representative soil and water samples and compilation of a factual ground investigations report. The field Investigations were carried out between 15th May and 9th June, 2019. Core drilling was done using three drilling rigs; a French-make Crawler and self-driven remote-controlled rotary core drilling rig (APAGEO APAFOR 560), Chinese XY-100 drilling rig and Chinese GY-200 drilling rig. Additional investigations comprising the drilling of seven (7) boreholes was conducted in March 2020.
