Location: The site was located along the Kampala-Jinja Highway approximately 50kms from Kampala City.
Scope: Geotechnical Investigations Included:
- Core drilling of two boreholes each to refusal or to a maximum of 10m and excavation of nineteen trial pits each to a maximum of 3m.
- Assess the strength of the soil profile through the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) at 1.5m intervals in boreholes and the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test at 3.0m intervals in the trial pits. (i.e, top and bottom of trial pit)
- Recovery of disturbed samples at 1.5m intervals in each of the boreholes and trial pits.
- Recovery of undisturbed samples from the cohesive formations of both boreholes and trial pits where possible.
- Carrying out laboratory tests and analysis on suitable recovered soil samples.
- Compilation of a geotechnical investigations report
