Location: The Muhanga – Kisizi – Kiyenje – Kebisoni and Kiyenje – Rwashamaire (78.8km) road project is located in the southwestern districts of Rukiga, Rukungiri and Ntungamo. The project links local urban centres of Kiyenje and Kisizi to the bituminous paved National Roads, that is, Ntungamo – Rukungiri and Mbarara – Kabale Highways at Rwashamaire/ Kebisoni and Muhanga respectively. 

Scope: The works so far carried out include excavation of alignment trial pits at 1km intervals along the existing gravel road and conducting Dynamic Cone Penetrometer Test (DCP) along the existing road at 500m intervals. Locating, sampling and testing from probable sources of road construction materials, i.e, natural gravel, sand, water and rock.  Drilling of twenty-eight (28) boreholes to a maximum depth of 20 meters and conducting of the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) at swamp and river crossing locations is also to be done.  

The field activities were carried out in March 2020.
