The Project road forms a component of the vital international highway connecting Uganda to the port of Mombasa on the Kenya coast.
The project comprises of a divided 6-lane new road over the 4 km, 6-lane to Mukono town and 4-lane road between Mukono to end of Project in Jinja town. The design included over 6 major interchanges and link roads to all major towns along the road, over 60 bridges including Roads over Bridges and crossing of water structures, fencing throughout the length of the road, lighting and toll plazas.
Services Alpha offered are:
- Excavation up to 2m, auger boring up to 6m and logging of 121 trial pits and in-situ soil strength testing (DCP) in non-swamp locations and Mackintosh Probing at 97 swamp locations.
- Identifying, sampling and laboratory testing of samples from potential road construction material sources.
- Core drilling and logging of 76 boreholes to depths between 15 and 35 meters, in-situ soil strength testing (SPT), recovery of both disturbed and undisturbed soil and rock core samples and laboratory testing of the recovered samples for the proposed bridge locations along the project.
- Installation of piezometers for ground water level monitoring.
- Preparation of a Factual Ground Investigations Report.
